In the present day, society as a whole has obligations and duties to fulfill, many of them can be of social or personal benefit. Many think that social obligations and duties can only be exercised by health professionals, but they forget that an engineer/scientist/teacher is responsible for assigning part of the general and specific knowledge that in a certain way, Have a huge contribution to society.

Modeling is such a complex tool and at the same time so wide that by knowing it, one can perceive how comprehensively it is. By reflecting on it, we have such a shallow vision that it is hard to believe how much we can apply modeling.

A case that involves, in a certain way, social welfare, is the modeling of energy demand. In Brazil, the agency is responsible for ministing our system, the ONS (National system Operator). This organ not only calculates the demand for national energy, but is also responsible for distributing the energy according to the demand of each region. All this is thoroughly dealt with every instant, taking into consideration peak demand times so that no blackout happens as it happened in the past.

There are also several other areas of modeling, such as: Transportation modeling, poverty modeling, education modeling, Terrorism Prevention modeling, climate modeling, among others.

Comments: When attending the lecture and subsequently summarize about it, we can perceive how important the modeling can be in the life of an engineer, now even more with a social character that is of extreme importance to the essence of the human being. Being able to work and help others with their work is what we seek after being formed.
